Akway makes six families of handwoven light, and the difference between them is where the light sits rather than what it is made of. Hanging and pendant lights drop from the ceiling on a cord or chain and are used over dining tables, in living rooms and in stairwells, from ₹899. Flush and semi-flush ceiling lights sit against the ceiling for rooms under about nine feet, from ₹949. Wall lamps and sconces mount beside a bed, mirror or hallway and free up surfaces, from ₹1,299. Table and bedside lamps plug into a socket and need no installation, from ₹1,399. Floor lamps stand beside a sofa or reading chair, from ₹2,999. Chandeliers are the large multi-arm statement fittings for double-height rooms and staircases, from ₹5,999. Which light should I choose for each room?
Over a dining table, a pendant hung 75 to 85 cm above the tabletop. In a bedroom, either a single pendant with at least 90 cm of clearance above the bed, or a pair of wall sconces at 120 to 150 cm from the floor. In a room with a ceiling under nine feet, or one with a fan, a flush or semi-flush ceiling light. Beside a sofa or reading chair, a floor lamp.

What bulb do Akway lights take?
A standard E27 screw fitting. We recommend a warm white LED at 2700K to 3000K, which gives the warmest light through a woven shade and emits almost no heat.

Are bulbs included?
No. Bulbs are not included, so you can choose the colour temperature and brightness that suits the room.

Do woven shades block too much light?
No — the weave is the shade. An open weave diffuses the bulb and throws patterned light onto the walls and ceiling as well as downward, which is why one woven pendant changes a room more than a solid fabric shade of the same size.
