Wall Lights for Hallway

What Light Does a Hallway Need?

A hallway usually has no window and no room for a floor or table lamp, so wall lighting is the only practical way to light it — the fixture has to sit on the one surface the space has spare. That shapes every choice: a shallow sconce that sits close to the wall in a narrow corridor, mounted at standing eye level, and repeated along the length rather than placed once in the middle, which leaves both ends dim. Because a hallway light is seen at close range and is on whenever the space is used, the shade matters more here than in a large room. Akway handweaves 13 hallway wall light designs in rattan, cane, bamboo and jute, ₹1,699 to ₹2,099, made in India with free delivery pan-India.

Wall Lights and Sconces for Hallways and Corridors

Akway hallway wall lights are handwoven from rattan, cane, bamboo and jute by Indian artisans. A hallway rarely has room for a floor or table lamp and often has no natural light at all, which makes wall lighting the only practical way to make the space feel welcoming rather than merely passable. Prices start at ₹1,699 with free shipping across India.

Where should hallway wall lights be placed?

Space sconces evenly along a corridor to draw the eye down its length, or mount a single lamp beside a console table or mirror near the entrance. On a staircase, a lamp at each landing lights the treads without a harsh overhead glare.

How high should a hallway wall light be mounted?

Mount at 150-165cm from the floor, which is standing eye level, and on a staircase measure from each tread rather than the floor below. Space lamps 2-2.5m apart so the pools of light overlap.

• Spacing: 2-2.5m apart along a corridor so the pools of light overlap.
• Height: 150-165cm from the floor; on stairs, measure from each tread.
• Projection: in a narrow hallway choose a shallow sconce that sits close to the wall.
• Bulbs: warm 2700K makes an entrance feel welcoming.

Each shade is woven by hand, so small variation in the weave is expected. Browse the full range below.

Can wall lights be fitted in a rented flat?

Only where a wired wall point already exists — a sconce is a fixed fitting, so adding a new point means chasing the wall and needs the landlord's consent and an electrician. Where no point exists and the wall cannot be cut, a floor lamp or a plug-in table lamp gives the same layered light with no fixing at all.
