Does EUDR apply to rattan and bamboo?
This is the question European buyers ask first, and the answer is better than most expect. Products made of bamboo, rattan and other non-wood woody materials fall outside the EU Deforestation Regulation — they are not the "wood" commodity within the meaning of the regulation. A product whose customs tariff code is not listed in Annex I is not covered, even where it contains components of a relevant commodity.
The timeline matters for the rest of your range: EUDR applies from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators, and from 30 June 2027 for micro and small enterprises. So if you also import wood-component furniture, that part of your book may be in scope even though the rattan and bamboo lines are not.
We are not your compliance adviser and will not tell you your obligations are nil — scope turns on the HS code you actually import under, and that is yours to confirm. What we can do is state the materials in each design precisely, so your classification rests on fact rather than assumption.
Which European ports do you ship to?
Nhava Sheva has weekly services to Rotterdam, and onward coverage to Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Barcelona, Valencia and Genoa. North European transit is typically shorter than the North American routes — confirm the schedule with your forwarder, since routing and transhipment move it. Add 30–45 days production before transit.
