What does UKTR require of a UK importer?
If you place timber or timber-containing products on the GB market you are an operator under the UK Timber Regulation, and you must run a documented Due Diligence System (DDS). That applies whether you are importing raw material or finished flat-pack furniture — the obligation follows the product, not the processing stage.
The DDS requires you to collect and record the species, quantity, country of harvest, sub-national region where available, supplier details, and documentary evidence of legal harvest. Where a supply chain crosses several countries of transit or processing, each leg has to be documented. Records are kept for at least five years and produced to the Office for Product Safety and Standards on request.
Being the manufacturer makes that chain short: material to workshop to container, one country of harvest, one exporter. We can state species, harvest country and region, and supply the commercial documentation your DDS file needs.
Worth checking with your own adviser: published UKTR guidance is written around timber. How far it reaches into non-timber woody materials such as rattan and bamboo is not something we will assert for you — confirm scope with OPSS or a customs specialist, and we will provide whatever data that scoping calls for.
How long does shipping take to the UK?
Ocean transit from Nhava Sheva to Felixstowe is roughly 32 days, varying with carrier, routing and season. Southampton and London Gateway are comparable. Add the 30–45 day production window before transit, so plan on about ten weeks from confirmed order to arrival.
